Removals from Dartford to Portugal
Portugal is the longest of our four corridors. Working-family destinations — working Algarve towns (Olhão, Tavira, working Faro outer), Lisbon outer working areas, Setúbal. Not luxury Quinta do Lago, not Cascais, not NHR-tax-residency premium.
Dartford-to-Portugal moves go by road via the Dartford Crossing → M25 → Eurotunnel or Dover → south through France → into Spain → into Portugal. For some moves the sea-leg from a UK port to a Spanish or Portuguese port is the practical alternative.
The Portugal moves we book are working-family. The Algarve working coast (Olhão, Tavira, the towns outside the resort-villa belt), Lisbon outer working areas, Setúbal, Madeira working communities. The premium Algarve corridor (Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, Vilamoura villa belt) is handled by sister site Chigwell Removals; broader Algarve range by uk-portugal-removals.
Three patterns we see most often.
Working Algarve coast
Olhão, Tavira, working Faro outer districts, Lagos working districts. Mid-income family destinations away from the resort-villa belt.
Lisbon outer and Setúbal
Lisbon outer working areas (Marvila, Olivais, working Almada districts), Setúbal across the river, the working family corridors south of Lisbon.
Madeira working communities
Working Madeiran towns — outside the Funchal central tourist belt. Sea-leg routing combined with the road leg.

What you will need.
We will ask for the items below at the survey or shortly after. The earlier you can get them together, the cleaner the customs paperwork goes through on both sides.
- A complete inventory of the household with items of family significance named individually
- Photo ID, proof of UK address, passport details for any travelling household members
- NIF (Número de Identificação Fiscal) for the receiving household — essential for customs
- Portuguese-end property paperwork (deed, rental agreement, owner consent letter)
- A receiving contact in Portugal — household, family member, or property manager
- Notes on access — narrow-lane delivery for Madeira mountain villages or older town centres
Dartford context for this corridor.
We weight the Portuguese corridor to working-family destinations. For premium Quinta do Lago / Vale do Lobo / Vilamoura villa belt the Chigwell corridor is the right fit; for broader Algarve range including retirement uk-portugal-removals; for Madeiran community-heritage moves Cricklewood frames the Brent NW London geographic-community context.
Post-Brexit moves to Portugal are full export-import customs declarations. We handle the UK-side export and coordinate with a Portuguese broker for the import, including the certificado de bagagem for second-home-to-primary and returning-resident classifications.
Dartford → Portugal.
Out of Dartford via the Dartford Crossing → M25, then south to the channel. The right onward route is what we agree at the survey.
Portugal-specific questions.
We are moving to working Algarve — Olhão or Tavira. Is your service different from the Quinta do Lago villa belt?
Yes. Working Algarve destinations tend to be apartment-block, modest-house, or working-coast access rather than gated-community villa coordination. Different price register; different logistics. The premium-villa belt is better served by sister site Chigwell Removals.
How does the Madeira routing work from Dartford?
Road leg from Dartford via the Dartford Crossing → M25 → Eurotunnel → south through France → Spain → Portugal. From mainland Portugal, a sea crossing onward to Madeira. We coordinate the road leg, the sea leg, and the Madeiran receiving agent. It is a longer total transit window than mainland moves.
My family in Portugal speaks Portuguese. Can the receiving briefing happen in Portuguese?
Yes. Our Portuguese broker handles destination-side paperwork in Portuguese; we can arrange a phone or written briefing of the receiving family in Portuguese where that helps.
