Terms of Business
These are the contract terms that apply when you book an international removal with Dartford Removals. Specific durations and windows in this document are the legally meaningful ones; qualitative descriptors used elsewhere on the site defer to the specifics here.
1. Quotes
Our written quotes are valid for thirty days from the date of issue. If you want to book the move after that window has expired, we will normally re-issue the quote rather than honour the original.
2. Booking and deposit
Confirmed bookings require a deposit. The deposit is fully refundable if you cancel within fourteen days of payment; after fourteen days, the deposit is held against committed costs (Eurotunnel or ferry slot booking, crew time, destination-side broker engagement).
3. Payment terms
The balance is due seven days before the pack date. Late payment may delay the pack-and-load schedule because crew and crossing slots are released on the working assumption that the balance has cleared.
4. Customs paperwork
We prepare the UK-side export declaration and coordinate with a customs broker on the destination side for the import declaration. The customer is responsible for the accuracy of the inventory information provided at survey, for documentation of declared values on high-value items, and for residency-status information affecting tariff classification.
5. Inventory and condition
The inventory agreed at the survey, supplemented by the pack-day check, is the binding record of what leaves the property. The customer (or named receiving contact at the destination) signs to acknowledge delivery against that inventory.
6. Claims
Any damage or loss claim must be reported in writing to help@dartford-removals.co.uk within seven days of delivery. Claims reported after the seven-day window may not be covered.
7. Items we do not move
We do not move firearms, hazardous materials (paints, fuels, gas cylinders), perishable food, plants subject to import restriction, or items requiring special permission. Certain antiquities require CITES paperwork; we raise those at the survey.
8. Storage
We offer short-term storage on the UK side at separately quoted rates if the destination property is not yet ready or the move timing requires a gap. Long-term storage is available on request.
9. Crossing and routing
We book the Eurotunnel slot, the Dover ferry, or the Iberian sea-leg crossing on your behalf as part of the move. Crossing services are scheduled by their operators (Eurotunnel, P&O / DFDS / Brittany Ferries / others) and are subject to those operators' conditions including weather, operational delays, and customs processing on both sides. We do not warrant specific crossing times.
10. Cancellation by us
We reserve the right to cancel a booking only if the survey reveals materially different conditions to those described at quote stage. In that case we re-quote on the new information and the original deposit is refundable in full.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
